Salt and Pepper Shakers

When trying to decide on a subject for my blog I tried to think of what I enjoy doing more than anything else.  Thus was born Someone's Trash...My Treasures.  Nothing I love more than stepping into a thrift store, consignment shop or antiques mall.
So, where to start?
Some of the first things I started collecting were salt and pepper shakers. I figured they wouldn't take up much space so I could easily find room for them in my kitchen.  I knew right off that run of the mill (pardon the pun) salt and pepper shakers wouldn't do.  After buying a few that I thought were cute I soon developed a more sophisticated eye for what was good.
There is no rhyme or reason to my collection and even though I have over 100 pairs they are all completely different and unique from one another.  I even have a few orphans I picked up because they looked so sad without a mate and I wanted to give them a good home.
Some of my favorites:

Cute animals

Pink and Blue Poodles

I'm Salt, I'm Pepper

Poor little orphan bunny!

Gentleman and Lady Birds

Alligators with Forks

  1. I love your new blog. You have some very nice S&Ps! They are a lot of fun to collect. Would you call them "Functional Art?"
